Team Greece Announces Final 12-Man Squad for EuroBasket Tip-Off

Athens, Greece — The Hellenic Basketball Federation on Sunday released the 12 players who will represent Greece at the EuroBasket tournament, which begins this week.
Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo anchors the group as the only active NBA player on the roster. Antetokounmpo is coming off a First Team All-NBA season in which he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

The squad features several former NBA players. Dorsey appeared in 107 league games over three seasons, averaging 6.6 points while shooting 35.1 percent from three-point range. Papanikolaou spent two NBA campaigns, posting 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per night.
Rising prospect Alexandros Samodurov, 20, turned heads at this summer’s FIBA Under-20 event, earning All-Star Five honors after producing 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 blocks across seven games. The 6’10” center will make his senior national-team debut.
Antetokounmpo joined training camp late while a new insurance arrangement was finalized to cover his NBA contract. He logged 18 points on seven field-goal attempts in 22 minutes during Greece’s recent 92-77 exhibition loss to France. The team concluded its warm-up slate with a 4-3 record.
Greece opens EuroBasket Group C play against Italy on August 8. The pool also includes Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain and Cyprus.
