The New York Knicks are evaluating several trade possibilities as the deadline approaches, focusing on San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan and New Orleans Pelicans duo Jose Alvarado and Yves Missi, according to a report from Clutch Points’ Brett Siegel.

Team officials are said to view Sochan as an immediate boost to the second unit. The 6-foot-8 forward offers size, defense and positional flexibility while earning $7.1 million this season. He is slated to enter restricted free agency this summer.

Alvarado has surfaced as a potential backup option behind starting point guard Jalen Brunson. The energetic guard is averaging 7.9 points and 3.2 assists in just under 22 minutes per game and carries a $4.5 million team option for 2024-25.

Missi represents more of a developmental play. The rookie center opened the season in the Pelicans’ starting lineup, showing flashes of rim protection and rebounding. Although his playing time has diminished, New York is intrigued by his upside. Missi’s rookie contract includes a $3.5 million option already exercised for next season.

While targeting the Spurs and Pelicans for potential deals, the Knicks are also exploring ways to move forward Guerschon Yabusele, whose stint in New York has not met expectations, the report states.

New York’s interest reportedly extends to New Orleans wing Naji Marshall, though multiple franchises are monitoring the swingman and the Pelicans are believed to be seeking significant value in return.

Salary-cap logistics remain the primary hurdle. New York is hard-capped and operating just below the second apron, meaning any incoming contracts must match or fall below outgoing salary.
