Bulls plan Rose-themed food and drinks for Derrick Rose’s jersey retirement

When the Chicago Bulls lift Derrick Rose’s No. 1 jersey to the United Center rafters on Saturday, fans will find tributes to the former MVP on concession menus as well.

Levy Restaurants, which manages the arena’s food service, created a lineup of limited-time items that reference the point guard’s career and Chicago roots:

Signature beverage

Rose Cocktail: a clarified margarita made with reposado tequila—Rose’s preferred spirit—served over a rose-infused ice cube containing a red rose.

Desserts

Rose Cake Pop: molded in the shape of a rose and coated with rose-red sprinkles.
No. 1 Sugar Cookie: hand-decorated with icing to resemble Rose’s white Bulls jersey.

Entrées

MVP Burger and Fries: two smashed beef patties topped with Chicago-style Italian beef on a bun stamped “MVP,” a nod to Rose’s 2011 award.
No. 1 Nachos: red and black tortilla chips cut into the shape of the numeral “1.”

Chicago drafted Rose first overall in 2008, and he spent seven seasons with his hometown team, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2008-09 and becoming, at 22, the youngest MVP in league history in 2011.

The Bulls have previously retired four numbers—Jerry Sloan’s 4, Bob Love’s 10, Michael Jordan’s 23 and Scottie Pippen’s 33. The organization announced in August that Rose’s jersey would join that group following Saturday’s game against the Boston Celtics. Since Rose was traded to the New York Knicks in 2016, no Bulls player has worn No. 1, and the number will now remain permanently out of circulation.
