James briefly addressed the subject after practice, noting that he and Buss are aligned on the franchise’s goals and maintain regular communication. He added that talk of a divide was “overblown,” but did not elaborate on specific reports that had suggested a split.
Speculation surfaced earlier in the week when several outlets cited unnamed sources claiming differences of opinion between the four-time NBA champion and the longtime Lakers executive. James’ comments were his first on the matter since those reports appeared.
Buss has not issued a public statement regarding the alleged rift.
