Brooklyn, NY — League insiders increasingly believe guard Cam Thomas and the Nets are headed for a separation either before the February 5 trade deadline or in the summer, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported. Thomas, 24, holds a de facto no-trade clause after accepting a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer as a restricted free agent in 2025, meaning any deal requires his approval.

Thomas’ market value has dipped after hamstring troubles limited him for much of the past season-and-a-half, and he is shooting a career-low 40.5 percent from the field this year. If he is not moved, the guard will reach unrestricted free agency in July. He recently left agent Alex Saratsis of Octagon and signed with Thad Foucher of Wasserman.

Bulls Weigh Options Ahead of Deadline

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls have spoken with the Pelicans about second-year center Yves Missi. Chicago is reluctant to surrender draft picks, which could complicate negotiations. Cowley adds that the Timberwolves have asked about guards Ayo Dosunmu and Tre Jones as well as Coby White.

Tatum Progresses as Celtics Stay Afloat

The Celtics remain firmly in the playoff mix at 26-16 despite being without All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe noted. Recovering from an Achilles tear, Tatum completed a one-hour on-court workout Monday in front of reporters, Jay King of The Athletic reported. Head coach Joe Mazzulla deferred to the medical team on a return timetable but called the public workout a notable step, as most of Tatum’s rehab has been conducted privately.

Rivers Adds Size to Bucks’ Starting Five

The Bucks ended a three-game skid Monday in Atlanta after head coach Doc Rivers inserted forward Kyle Kuzma for guard Kevin Porter Jr. in the starting lineup. The new group was outscored by one point in 20 minutes, but Rivers said the change was designed to add length. “We thought putting size in the lineup would be great,” he told reporters, per Eric Nehm of The Athletic. Rivers added that Milwaukee’s second unit “was all plus tonight,” singling out Pete Nance for praise. He has not decided whether the lineup will remain.
