Two-Way Contract Slots Still Available Across NBA as 2025-26 Camps Approach

With roughly five weeks remaining before NBA training camps begin, 14 teams have yet to fill every two-way roster position, leaving 18 openings league-wide for the 2025-26 season.
Clubs can carry up to three two-way players—90 total across the league—allowing prospects to move between the NBA and the G League while remaining under team control.
Hoops Rumors’ 2025-26 tracker lists 18 vacant slots. Two of those are expected to be claimed soon: restricted free-agent guard Tristen Newton is reportedly taking his two-way qualifying offer from the Timberwolves, and center Branden Carlson is anticipated to finalize a two-way deal with the Thunder.
Teams with multiple open two-way slots
- Golden State Warriors (2)
- New York Knicks (3)
- Oklahoma City Thunder (2)
Several of those jobs appear earmarked. Carlson is poised to join Oklahoma City, the Warriors have a qualifying offer out to Taran Armstrong, and the Knicks are still waiting on restricted free agent Kevin McCullar Jr. Golden State’s second-round picks Alex Toohey (No. 52) and Will Richard (No. 56) are also logical two-way candidates. New York has not yet signed No. 51 pick Mohamed Diawara, who could land either a standard or two-way contract.
Teams with one open two-way slot
- Brooklyn Nets
- Cleveland Cavaliers
- Dallas Mavericks
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Memphis Grizzlies
- Miami Heat
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- Orlando Magic
- Portland Trail Blazers
- Utah Jazz
- Washington Wizards
Minnesota’s vacancy is effectively spoken for once Newton’s deal is signed. Utah has yet to add No. 53 pick John Tonje, who is a prime option for the Jazz’s final spot.
Because not every opening has an obvious candidate, agents representing players seeking an 18-man roster opportunity are expected to contact these teams. Veterans on Exhibit 10 agreements could also be converted to two-way contracts before opening night; center Colin Castleton (Orlando) is a recent example of that pathway.
Teams with no two-way openings
- Atlanta Hawks
- Boston Celtics
- Charlotte Hornets
- Chicago Bulls
- Denver Nuggets
- Detroit Pistons
- Houston Rockets
- Indiana Pacers
- Los Angeles Clippers
- Milwaukee Bucks
- New Orleans Pelicans
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Phoenix Suns
- Sacramento Kings
- San Antonio Spurs
- Toronto Raptors
Although these 16 clubs currently have full two-way contingents, roster shuffling could still occur before or after camp.
