Donovan Mitchell said he would prefer to suit up for the World roster at February’s NBA All-Star Weekend, citing his mother’s Panamanian heritage in a video diary published by Andscape.

“I do think I should be on the World team,” the Cleveland Cavaliers guard noted, adding that while he would not be disappointed if placed on Team USA, representing Panama would honor his family background.

Mitchell, born in New York, made the comment as Cleveland searches for consistency. The Cavaliers posted a solid road win over Philadelphia on Wednesday, showing flashes of the form expected entering the season.

Mavericks add Robinson-Earl on hardship 10-day

The Dallas Mavericks reached a 10-day agreement with forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, according to The Athletic. Dallas received a hardship exception and will not need to waive a player while Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II and Dante Exum remain sidelined.

Robinson-Earl, 25, played for the Mavericks in the preseason and has totaled 214 NBA appearances. With the G League’s Texas Legends, he averaged 19.3 points and 11.7 rebounds on efficient shooting, prompting the call-up. Adding his salary moves Dallas slightly closer to the league’s second-apron hard cap.

Bulls may finally engage in trades

League sources told the Chicago Sun-Times that executives around the NBA believe the Chicago Bulls are more open to trade discussions than in previous years. Executive vice president Artūras Karnišovas is described as “more transparent and realistic,” with rivals sensing the club will listen on players with expiring contracts.

Chicago sits just below .500, and ownership pressure is reportedly increasing after several quiet trade deadlines, making the coming weeks a focal point for potential movement.
