The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to add size to their bench and intend to use one of their two open roster slots on a veteran center, league sources told The Stein Line.

According to the report, the organization plans to keep its 15th position vacant to limit luxury-tax exposure and will target a one-year, non-guaranteed contract at the league minimum for the 14th spot.

The approach leaves Cleveland with little financial flexibility, effectively restricting the search to free agents willing to accept a minimum salary without guaranteed money.

One option noted in multiple reports is a reunion with veteran big man Tristan Thompson, who spent part of last season with the Cavaliers on a deal that became fully guaranteed in January. Other experienced centers still on the market include Bismack Biyombo, Alex Len, Moses Brown and JT Thor.

The Cavaliers currently rely on Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley to anchor the frontcourt. A low-cost backup would provide additional rim protection and rebounding while keeping the club below the tax threshold.

No timeline has been announced for when Cleveland expects to finalize the signing.
