MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies announced Wednesday that center Zach Edey is expected to be out for approximately six more weeks as he continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left ankle.

Edey, 7-foot-3, has been sidelined since Dec. 7. “Based on the unanimous recommendation of consulting experts, Edey will continue on his current plan of offloading and rehabilitation, with a reevaluation to follow in approximately six weeks,” the team said in a statement.

The medical update also projected forward Brandon Clarke (right calf strain) and guard Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe procedure) to return in four to six weeks, a shorter timetable than Edey’s.

The Grizzlies are in Berlin for Thursday’s game against the Orlando Magic, the first contest of a two-game European road swing.

Edey, a two-time AP National Player of the Year at Purdue, averaged 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds in 13 appearances this season after missing the first 13 games while recovering from June surgery on the same ankle. He played 66 games as a rookie last season despite an early-season sprain that cost him 12 contests.

Memphis originally disclosed the stress reaction on Dec. 11 and said a full recovery was expected.
