Former Atlanta Hawks general manager Landry Fields has been appointed president of league operations at Overtime Elite (OTE), the Atlanta-based development league announced. The nine-team circuit, founded in 2021 for players ages 16 to 20, counts recent NBA lottery picks Alex Sarr, Amen Thompson, and Ausar Thompson among its alumni.

Fields will oversee all competitive, developmental, and operational departments. Overtime chief executive Dan Porter cited Fields’ background as an NBA player, four-year Stanford standout, San Antonio Spurs front-office staffer, and Hawks executive as reasons for the hire. “None of our other staff have gone all the way up and down,” Porter said, noting that Fields’ range covers the NBA, college basketball, player development, and business operations.

NBA Europe Push Gains Momentum

The NBA is targeting individual franchise valuations of up to $1 billion as it courts investors for a proposed NBA Europe league, Bloomberg reported. With commissioner Adam Silver attending preseason games in Berlin and London this week, league officials are scheduled to meet potential owners and partners in both cities.

Meanwhile, the continent’s top competition, the EuroLeague, is requiring its A-license clubs to commit for 10 seasons. According to Eurohoops, the EuroLeague set Friday as the deadline and has threatened legal action if the NBA attempts to recruit teams that sign those agreements.
