Harden Moves Past O’Neal to No. 9 on NBA Career Scoring Chart

LOS ANGELES — James Harden climbed to ninth place on the NBA’s career scoring list Monday night, eclipsing Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal during the LA Clippers’ 117-109 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
The veteran guard sank a 3-pointer early in the third quarter at Crypto.com Arena, lifting his lifetime total to 28,598 points in his 1,187th regular-season appearance. O’Neal finished his 19-year career with 28,596 points over 1,207 games.
Harden, 36, closed the game with 32 points and 10 assists. He entered the night averaging 25.6 points, his best mark since the 2019-20 season, when he captured the last of his three consecutive scoring titles at 34.3 points per contest.
The next target on the all-time list is Wilt Chamberlain, who is eighth with 31,419 points amassed in 1,045 games across 14 seasons. LeBron James tops the chart with 42,601 points heading into the Los Angeles Lakers’ matchup later Monday.
Harden, an 11-time All-Star now in his 17th season, recently moved to 12th place in career assists and remains second in made 3-pointers, trailing only Stephen Curry.
