Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will add a special patch to his jersey beginning with Monday’s game in Sacramento, marking his record-setting 23rd NBA season, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported.
The patch will sit on the upper right side of James’ chest and display the silhouette of his signature pre-game chalk toss. Three colored stripes behind the image represent the three franchises he has played for—the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Lakers—while the number 23 is centered on the design.
According to the report, the 41-year-old will wear the patch for the remainder of the regular season. After each game it will be removed, dated and authenticated before being inserted into select Topps trading cards.
James secured the all-time record for seasons played in November, surpassing Vince Carter’s 22 campaigns. Despite missing the first 14 games this year because of sciatica, he has appeared in 36 contests and is averaging 21.9 points, 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds. The Lakers enter Monday at 23-13, fifth in the Western Conference.
