The Brooklyn Nets are widely anticipated to trade forward Michael Porter Jr. ahead of the 2026 NBA trade deadline, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic.
Hollinger reported that one league source labeled Porter a “lock” to be dealt as Brooklyn looks to capitalize on what has become a career-best season for the 27-year-old.
Multiple NBA sources said the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have already expressed strong interest in acquiring the 6-foot-10 scorer.
Porter is averaging 25.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting efficiently across the board. He is earning $38.3 million this year and is owed $40.8 million next season, a contract structure that appeals to contenders seeking immediate offense without a long-term commitment.
Brooklyn entered Saturday at 11-24, well outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Trading Porter would align with the organization’s broader plan to gain flexibility and accumulate future assets.
Porter does not possess a no-trade clause. After helping the Denver Nuggets win the 2023 championship, many team executives believe his skill set is better suited to a roster with postseason aspirations.
