The Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings are not expected to engage in trade talks for Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, according to a report from Jake Fischer of The Stein Line published on January 10, 2026.
Fischer noted that both teams had been mentioned as possible destinations after Memphis signaled a willingness to hear offers for the 26-year-old, two-time All-Star point guard. However, league sources told Fischer that neither Minnesota nor Sacramento plans to move forward with a pursuit.
Memphis recently opened discussions with other clubs as it evaluates the market for Morant, but no formal negotiations with the Timberwolves or Kings are expected at this time.
