PORTLAND, Ore. — Kevin Durant vaulted into seventh place on the NBA’s all-time scoring chart Friday night, knocking down a third-quarter 3-pointer during the Houston Rockets’ 111-105 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The shot, hit with 7:57 remaining in the third, pushed the 37-year-old forward to 31,422 career points—three more than Wilt Chamberlain’s long-standing total of 31,419. Durant entered the game needing 15 points to catch the Hall of Famer and finished with 30.

Dirk Nowitzki now sits directly ahead of Durant at No. 6 with 31,560 points.

Currently in his 18th NBA season, the 15-time All-Star also surpassed 8,000 career rebounds during the game.

“No, it doesn’t amaze me when you see the work ethic and what he does on a day-to-day basis,” Rockets coach Ime Udoka said before tipoff while discussing the impending milestone.

Trail Blazers coach Tiago Splitter recalled first seeing Durant score “30 every night” as a young player with Oklahoma City and called his continued production “impressive” at this stage of his career. When the arena announcer relayed the achievement, fans at the Moda Center offered warm applause, and Splitter greeted Durant with a hug.
