Dallas Mavericks forward/center Anthony Davis exited Thursday night’s 113-111 loss to the Utah Jazz after injuring his left hand late in the fourth quarter at Delta Center.

The 32-year-old appeared to get hurt while guarding Lauri Markkanen on a drive with just over two minutes remaining. Although Davis initially told teammates he could stay on the floor, he checked out at the 2:08 mark. Reporters on site observed him doubled over in pain in the arena tunnel and he did not return.

“He hurt his left hand. That’s all we had,” head coach Jason Kidd said postgame.

Before leaving, the five-time All-NBA big man recorded 21 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes. Dallas fell to 14-24 with the defeat.

The Mavericks also lost backup guard Brandon Williams to an illness. The 26-year-old, who had reached double figures in five straight outings while averaging 19.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists, was limited to two points in just under nine minutes.

No timetable for Davis’s or Williams’s return was provided.
