Hypothetical Three-Team Deal Would Send Michael Porter Jr. to Bucks

ESPN analyst Kevin Pelton has outlined a three-team trade concept that would move forward Michael Porter Jr. from the Brooklyn Nets to the Milwaukee Bucks, reshaping several rosters ahead of the NBA’s Feb. 8 trade deadline.
Proposed Trade Framework
Milwaukee Bucks receive: Michael Porter Jr.
Brooklyn Nets receive: Kyle Kuzma, Taurean Prince, 2031 first-round pick (via Bucks)
Detroit Pistons receive: Cole Anthony, cash considerations
Why Milwaukee Would Act
The Bucks are 16-21 and sit 11th in the Eastern Conference, currently outside the Play-In field. When Giannis Antetokounmpo rests, the offense stalls; when he plays, scoring is still often difficult. Porter, 25, is averaging 26.1 points on 49.8 percent shooting from the floor and 41.3 percent from three for Brooklyn. His ability to create shots without relying on Antetokounmpo’s gravity mirrors the role Khris Middleton once filled.
Porter is earning $38.3 million this season and is owed $40.8 million in 2024-25. Milwaukee could take on that salary, but the proposed deal would cost the Bucks their final tradable first-round pick, a significant price for a franchise already low on future assets.
Brooklyn’s Motivation
For the Nets, Kuzma would add lineup flexibility, Prince’s contract expires after this season, and the 2031 draft pick provides a long-term asset should the club decide to reset its roster.
Detroit’s Role
Detroit’s inclusion is primarily financial. By absorbing Cole Anthony and receiving cash considerations, the Pistons help balance salaries across all three teams.
The scenario remains speculative, but Pelton’s proposal illustrates the urgency facing Milwaukee as Antetokounmpo’s prime years continue and the Bucks search for solutions beyond their current core.
