The Cleveland Cavaliers do not expect swingman Max Strus back in the near future. The club said Tuesday that recent imaging on Strus’s surgically repaired left foot showed “positive progress,” yet the Jones fracture still needs additional time to heal completely.

Strus will continue with rehabilitation and conditioning work and is due for another evaluation by team medical personnel and surgeon Dr. David Porter within four weeks. Cleveland hopes to establish a firmer timetable after that appointment.

The 27-year-old was a vital piece of last season’s 64-win roster and was penciled into this year’s starting five alongside Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley. In his absence, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff has shuffled multiple players through the open spot while managing other injuries to the starting unit.

Additional Injury Notes Around the League

Los Angeles Clippers: Guard Bogdan Bogdanovic (left hamstring) has been ruled out for the team’s three-game road swing through New York (Wednesday), Brooklyn (Friday), and Detroit (Saturday). The veteran, sidelined since December 26, will be re-evaluated after the trip, according to The Athletic.

Orlando Magic: Television analyst Jeff Turner said Friday that forwards Franz Wagner (high ankle sprain) and Moritz Wagner (ACL recovery) could return within a week, but the organization has not confirmed that timeline. Head coach Jamahl Mosley told reporters Sunday that no target dates have been set, though both players are “responding well” to treatment.

Phoenix Suns: Guard Jamaree Bouyea, a rotation regular since late November, traveled on the club’s two-game trip but missed Monday’s contest in Houston while in the NBA’s concussion protocol. His status for Wednesday’s game in Memphis is uncertain. Bouyea has logged 21 of the 42 active games allowed under his two-way contract and is considered a strong candidate for a standard NBA deal before season’s end.
