The Miami Heat have reached an agreement with free agent guard Jahmir Young, giving the 24-year-old an opportunity to fight for one of the club’s two-way contract spots, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported on August 20, 2025.

Scotto noted that Young is expected to sign an Exhibit 10 deal, which can be converted to a two-way contract before the regular season begins. Miami currently has Vladislav Goldin and Myron Gardner occupying two of its three two-way slots, setting up a competition for the final opening during training camp.

The 6’1” point guard went undrafted out of Maryland in 2024 and started his professional career with the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets’ NBA G League affiliate. He later joined the Chicago Bulls on a two-way contract in February but was waived in July when Chicago made room for Yuki Kawamura.

Young appeared in six NBA games for Chicago, logging 30 total minutes, but excelled in the G League. Across 43 games with Grand Rapids and the Windy City Bulls, he averaged 21.7 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals. After struggling from long distance early in the season, he connected on 39.7% of his three-point attempts over 13 games with Windy City, earning a spot on the G League All-Rookie Team and finishing third in Rookie of the Year voting.

Although the Perth Wildcats of Australia’s NBL expressed interest in him this offseason, Young has chosen to continue pursuing an NBA career and will enter camp with Miami seeking a two-way contract.
