John Wall, a five-time All-Star who spent the bulk of his career with the Washington Wizards, has ended his playing days and will debut this fall as an analyst on Amazon Prime Video’s new NBA coverage.

Wall, 34, told The Washington Post he “still had a lot left in the tank,” but is eager to translate his on-court experience into commentary. Amazon begins airing NBA games this season, starting with Friday night matchups through December before adding Thursday and Saturday broadcasts. The streamer will also carry all knockout-round games of the inaugural NBA Cup.

Studio Team Announced

The studio lineup pairs Wall with fellow former players Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki. Taylor Rooks will host, while additional analysts include Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, Candace Parker, Stan Van Gundy, Dell Curry, Brent Barry and Udonis Haslem.

Hopes for Wizards Honor

Wall said he originally wanted to finish his career in Washington and hopes the Wizards will eventually retire his No. 2 jersey. He reflected on injuries that shortened his tenure, noting he “would give up all the money to play basketball and never deal with none of those injuries.”

Wall averaged 18.7 points and 8.9 assists over 613 regular-season games with Washington, Houston and the LA Clippers.
