The Dallas Mavericks are signaling that any trade involving Anthony Davis must bring back at least one significant young player, league sources told Grant Afseth of the Dallas Hoops Journal.

According to Afseth, forward Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors and rookie wing Zaccharie Risacher of the Atlanta Hawks are among the prospects on Dallas’ internal wish list.

Golden State has been linked to Davis, but team insiders have downplayed the prospect of the Warriors moving Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler—contracts that would be necessary to match salaries in a direct swap. While a multi-team deal could theoretically solve the cap math, Afseth reports there has been no momentum on proposals that would send Kuminga to Dallas with Davis landing elsewhere.

Atlanta offers a cleaner financial pathway, yet motivation remains uncertain. Sources said Dallas views Risacher as a cornerstone in any Hawks-centered package, but Atlanta has shown little inclination to include the No. 1 overall pick unless the overall return is clearly in its favor.

Davis’ contract adds another layer of complexity. He becomes eligible in August for a four-year, $275 million extension and is expected to seek that commitment whether he stays in Dallas or moves to a new team, Afseth noted. Any franchise pursuing the All-NBA forward would therefore be weighing both asset cost and a long-term financial obligation.
