Orlando, FL — The Orlando Magic announced Saturday that guard Jalen Suggs sustained a Grade 1 contusion of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Suggs underwent an MRI earlier in the day after being hurt during Friday night’s road game against the Chicago Bulls. According to the team, the imaging revealed no structural damage.

A source told Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel that the knee remains structurally sound, but the Magic did not provide a timeline for Suggs’ return. He has already been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup with the Indiana Pacers.

The injury occurred in the third quarter at United Center. Suggs grabbed at his knee after being fouled on a drive, finished his free throws, but was clearly limited and eventually left the game.

Friday marked just his second appearance after missing time with a left hip bruise. Earlier this season, the 24-year-old guard sat out the opening stretch while recovering from knee surgery.

Suggs has appeared in 23 of Orlando’s 35 games, averaging 15.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists while posting a team-best plus-10.1 net rating. The Magic are 19-16 and entered the year with expectations of contending near the top of the Eastern Conference.
