Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James said the team’s growing injury list will not serve as an alibi for a run of poor results, insisting the roster must “still go out and execute” despite constant lineup changes.

Speaking after a blowout defeat to the Detroit Pistons, James noted the Lakers have rarely fielded a full squad this season. “We haven’t had a full team all year. I don’t know, maybe one game we had a full roster—maybe even not,” he told reporters.

Key Absences

The club is without starting guard Austin Reaves for at least a month, while Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent and several role players remain sidelined. James himself missed the opening stretch of the campaign, and center Jaxson Hayes has only just returned from injury.

Frequent disruptions have derailed early-season momentum. A defense that opened the year strongly has regressed, and offensive production has fluctuated as head coach Darvin Ham shuffles rotations to cover gaps.

No Sympathy Expected

James acknowledged opponents will continue to target the undermanned Lakers. “Nobody is going to feel sorry for us,” he said. “That’s very hard to get a rhythm or chemistry on the floor with guys you know you’re going to play with every night … but there’s no excuse.”

Adjusting Roles

The 20-year veteran added he is prepared to handle more on-ball duties after spending much of the season off the ball. “If that’s what’s needed for us to win, I’m willing to do it,” he said.

The Lakers, who opened the campaign with promise, will look to stabilize as injured players work toward returns during the long regular season.
