Atlanta Hawks center Kristaps Porzingis is expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, ending a 10-game absence caused by illness.

The 7-foot-3 veteran has been sidelined since Dec. 5, a period in which Atlanta went 2-8. He did not travel for Monday’s 140-129 defeat in Oklahoma City, dropping the Hawks to 15-19.

Porzingis is averaging 19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks over 13 appearances this season. His return would provide sorely needed size for a frontcourt that has struggled without him.

While playing for the Boston Celtics last season, Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a disorder affecting the autonomic nervous system. Over the summer, he and team doctors developed a management plan, and he entered this season saying he felt healthy and confident.

The illness limited Porzingis to 11 playoff games with Boston last spring, when he averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 21 minutes per contest.
