The NBA on Sunday, December 28, announced a two-game suspension without pay for New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado and a one-game suspension for Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams.

The penalties stem from a fight during Saturday night’s matchup between the Pelicans and Suns. A hard foul by Alvarado in the third quarter prompted Williams to shove the guard, triggering an on-court confrontation that led to both players being ejected.

According to ESPN cap analyst Bobby Marks, the suspensions will cost Alvarado roughly $62,000 in forfeited salary, while Williams will lose about $36,000.

Phoenix won the game 123-114, with Devin Booker scoring 20 points.

Alvarado will sit out the Pelicans’ upcoming games Monday against the New York Knicks and Wednesday versus the Chicago Bulls. Williams will miss the Suns’ Monday night contest against the Washington Wizards.
