New York Knicks guard Josh Hart did not accompany the team on its three-game road swing after spraining his right ankle during Thursday’s Christmas Day matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Head coach Mike Brown’s club opened the trip Saturday night in Atlanta and will continue Monday in New Orleans and Wednesday in San Antonio without the 30-year-old swingman. League sources told The Athletic’s James L. Edwards that Hart is undergoing additional tests and will be re-evaluated once the Knicks return to New York.

Hart was hurt in the fourth quarter when his foot twisted in a collision with Cavaliers forward Dean Wade. He converted both free throws that followed the foul call before exiting for the locker room.

Since Brown inserted Hart into the starting lineup late last month, New York has compiled an 11-3 record. Hart is shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc—his best mark since his rookie year—while averaging 12.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists across 30.3 minutes per game.

Other injury updates

The Knicks expect guard Miles McBride to return Monday in New Orleans after missing nine straight contests with a sprained ankle, according to Edwards. Meanwhile, league sources said Landry Shamet has advanced to full on-court activities as he works toward contact clearance following a month-long absence with a sprained right shoulder.
