Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray will miss a minimum of one week after an MRI revealed a mild strain in his right calf, according to NBC Sacramento’s Sean Cunningham. The 25-year-old was hurt during Tuesday’s loss to the Detroit Pistons and is scheduled for a follow-up evaluation in seven days.
The Kings confirmed Murray’s status in a team press release, indicating he is expected to sit out at least the next four games before doctors reassess the injury.
Murray had already missed the season’s first 15 contests while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, performed in mid-October. Since returning, he has appeared in 15 games, averaging 14.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.7 blocks while logging 37.1 minutes per night—a workload that would rank second in the league if he had enough appearances to qualify. He is shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 26.3 percent from three-point range and 76.5 percent at the free-throw line.
Murray will remain with the team during his recovery and continue treatment as the Kings navigate their upcoming schedule without him.
