The Golden State Warriors are actively surveying the trade market for additional size and athleticism, according to a report by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Multiple sources told Siegel that the club has been “one of the league’s most aggressive” teams in gathering information as the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaches. Golden State’s primary objective is to reinforce the front court with an athletic forward or a rim-protecting big man who can rebound consistently—areas the current roster has struggled to cover.
Brooklyn center Nic Claxton has been mentioned by several outlets as a potential target, yet Siegel noted the Warriors would prefer acquiring a player whose salary is closer to $15 million per year. That financial guideline could limit the list of realistic options, even as the organization continues to cast a wide net.
Siegel added that Golden State has already held preliminary discussions with the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans. No specific players were identified in those talks, and the conversations were characterized as exploratory rather than imminent.
With just weeks remaining before the deadline, the Warriors appear focused on information-gathering while laying the groundwork for a possible move.
