The Golden State Warriors are not convinced that the Sacramento Kings can assemble a satisfactory package for forward Jonathan Kuminga, according to a report by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Siegel noted that Golden State is “not enamored” with the assets currently on the table and believes any realistic scenario would require a third team to facilitate the deal.
A central obstacle is Kings guard Malik Monk. While Sacramento has made Monk available, league interest has been minimal, Siegel reported. The 26-year-old is owed nearly $42 million over the two seasons following the current campaign, a commitment that has cooled potential suitors.
From the Warriors’ perspective, Monk’s contract complicates efforts to build a clean framework, especially as the club seeks flexibility and value in exchange for the fifth-year forward.
Unless Sacramento can broaden the proposal or rework its offer, Golden State is expected to look elsewhere for trade opportunities.
