NEW YORK — Several New York Knicks standouts said Monday they will allocate a portion of their NBA Cup prize money to team staff members who do not normally receive seasonal bonuses.

“Some people don’t get a bonus,” one player explained, noting that athletic trainers, equipment managers and other support personnel worked long hours throughout the league’s in-season tournament.

The players did not reveal how much money will be redistributed or which employees will be included, but emphasized that the funds will come directly from their individual tournament payouts.

The Knicks completed their NBA Cup schedule earlier this month. Prize checks were issued shortly after the final round, and the team’s leaders said they wanted to share the windfall before the end of the calendar year.
