The NBA on Friday circulated a league-wide memo outlining plans to tighten injury reporting requirements, curb certain types of prop bets and expand efforts to combat tanking.

Beginning immediately, teams must file game-day injury reports between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. local time—except on the second night of back-to-backs—and update the public injury list on NBA.com every 15 minutes instead of once an hour.

The league also told clubs it will press sports-betting operators to impose limits on “under” wagers, cap the amount gamblers can stake on player props, restrict which athletes can be included in prop markets and eliminate bet types that can be settled on a single play.

Interest in tighter rules intensified after October arrests tied to a federal investigation. Prosecutors accused Heat guard Terry Rozier and former NBA player Damon Jones of supplying bettors with non-public injury information, while Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was accused of giving similar data to a bettor, though he was not charged in that case.

The memo further calls for:

  • Expanded gambling education programs for players, coaches and staff;
  • Additional measures to protect team personnel from bettor harassment;
  • Enhanced tools to investigate suspicious wagering activity.

On the competitive side, the league is studying adjustments to draft-pick protections and potential changes to the draft lottery as part of a broader effort to discourage intentional losing.
