Salt Lake City — The Utah Jazz said veteran forward Georges Niang will remain out for at least two more weeks as he continues rehabilitating a stress reaction in the fourth metatarsal of his left foot. The club will re-evaluate the 32-year-old after that window. Niang has been sidelined for more than 11 weeks since suffering the injury during offseason workouts and has not yet resumed basketball activities. He is in the final season of an $8.2 million contract that expires after 2025-26. Last year, split between Cleveland and Atlanta, he averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting better than 40 percent from beyond the arc.

Atlanta — The Hawks released forward Jacob Toppin from his two-way contract, according to the NBA’s transaction log. Toppin, who played five games with Atlanta and spent time with G League affiliate College Park, recently underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. His two-way deal was non-guaranteed until Jan. 10, leaving Atlanta with one open two-way slot and one standard roster vacancy.

Memphis — Grizzlies wing John Konchar had successful surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, the team announced. The injury occurred on Dec. 7 against Portland. Memphis expects the 29-year-old reserve to make a full recovery and plans to re-evaluate him in about three weeks. Konchar has filled a limited bench role this season as the injury-hit Grizzlies continue to navigate multiple absences.
