Salt Lake City, UT — The Utah Jazz said Monday that veteran forward Georges Niang will stay out of the lineup for at least two more weeks while he continues to rehabilitate a left foot injury.
According to the team’s press release, the 32-year-old will undergo another medical evaluation after the two-week period. Niang has yet to appear this season as he recovers from a stress reaction in the fourth metatarsal of his left foot, an injury first disclosed more than 11 weeks ago during offseason workouts.
Utah has repeatedly described Niang’s recovery as “progressing,” but no target date for his return has been set.
Reliable Long-Range Threat
The former second-round pick (No. 50 overall, 2016) has built a career as a dependable three-point shooter, converting 39.9% of his attempts. Last season, split between Cleveland and Atlanta, he averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 21.5 minutes over 79 games while shooting .461 from the field, .406 from deep, and .793 from the foul line.
Busy Offseason, Expiring Deal
Niang’s rights changed hands twice this summer. Atlanta traded him to Boston in July, and the Celtics sent him to Utah in August in a salary-dump move. He is playing on an expiring contract worth $8.2 million for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Jazz will update Niang’s status following his next evaluation.
