A fresh tribute to Kobe Bryant has appeared in Los Angeles, this time portraying the late Los Angeles Lakers legend in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform.
Local muralist Gustavo Zermeño Jr., known for numerous sports-themed works across the city, began painting the piece on August 9, 2025. The artwork captures Bryant performing his signature jersey tug, but instead of his familiar Lakers gear, he is dressed in a blue Dodgers jersey with the number 24.
The backdrop includes an outline of the Dodger Stadium concourse and an infinity symbol—a sideways number 8—referencing one of Bryant’s two retired Lakers numbers. The mural reinforces Bryant’s enduring presence in Los Angeles street art more than five years after his death in January 2020.
The timing follows the Dodgers’ recent celebration of Bryant’s legacy. Last weekend, the team distributed Kobe Bryant bobbleheads and welcomed members of the Bryant family to Dodger Stadium. Two of his daughters delivered the ceremonial first pitch and the traditional “It’s time for Dodger baseball,” underscoring the family’s lasting bond with the city’s sports community.
Record Sale for Kobe Bryant Trading Card
The surge of tributes extends beyond public art into the collectibles market. Fanatics Collect reported that a private buyer paid $2.3 million for a Kobe Bryant trading card, setting a new record for any Bryant card. Earlier this year, the jersey Bryant wore in his NBA debut fetched $7 million at auction, illustrating the continuing demand for memorabilia tied to the Hall of Famer.
Murals, stadium ceremonies, and record-breaking auctions all attest to Bryant’s enduring impact on Los Angeles and the global sports community.
