Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic wasted no time making an impact in his first game back from paternity leave, guiding the Lakers to a 112-108 road victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night.
The 26-year-old star finished with a triple-double—31 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists—after spending several days in his native Slovenia for the birth of his second child, Olivia. Doncic had missed Los Angeles’ previous two contests against the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics to be with fiancée Anamaria Goltes.
Before tip-off, Doncic shared news of Olivia’s arrival on social media. The couple also has a 2-year-old daughter, Gabriela.
“It’s the best thing in the world,” Doncic told reporters postgame. “Now I’ve got two girls, and I know they’re going to make my life crazy. After I retire, I’m basically going to be their security.”
The performance kept Doncic atop the NBA scoring table. He is averaging 35.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game.
