The Atlanta Hawks announced Monday that two-way forward Jacob Toppin will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The injury occurred on November 29 during a G League game with the College Park Skyhawks. Team doctors performed the procedure earlier this week, ending the 25-year-old’s third NBA campaign.

Toppin, undrafted out of Kentucky in 2023, spent most of his first two seasons on two-way contracts with the New York Knicks before being waived in early March. He signed with Atlanta days later and returned on another two-way deal in July.

His NBA minutes have been limited—31 total appearances for 131 minutes (4.2 per game). This season he saw action in five games for the Hawks, averaging 3.4 minutes.

The 6-foot-9 forward has been far more productive in the NBAGL. In five outings for College Park this year, he averaged 18.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocks while shooting 48.0 percent from the field. Last season he put up 22.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists over 23 G League games.

Toppin’s two-way contract becomes fully guaranteed if he remains on the roster past January 7, raising the possibility that Atlanta could waive him in the coming weeks. He is the younger brother of Indiana Pacers forward Obi Toppin, who is recovering from foot surgery and is expected back in February.
