Toronto Raptors forward RJ Barrett will be out for a minimum of another week after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection to treat a sprained right knee, the team said Monday.
The injury occurred on Nov. 23 when Barrett landed awkwardly following a third-quarter dunk. He has already missed eight games and will sit out at least two more this week before undergoing another evaluation.
Now in his seventh NBA season, Barrett is averaging 19.4 points, the third-best mark on the roster but his lowest since the 2020-21 campaign. He is shooting a career-high 50.6% from the field.
Toronto (15-10) has dropped five of its past six contests. The Raptors host the New York Knicks on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the NBA in-season tournament. A victory would send them to Saturday’s semifinals, while a loss would set up a game against the loser of the Miami Heat–Orlando Magic matchup on a date still to be determined.
