CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hornets guard LaMelo Ball will not play Sunday against the Denver Nuggets because of a bone bruise in his left ankle, head coach Steve Clifford confirmed. Ball exited Friday’s game early with soreness and did not return, adding to Charlotte’s ongoing offensive struggles.
Magic
MIAMI — Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero rejoined Orlando’s lineup Friday after missing 10 games with an ankle issue. In 20 minutes, he recorded nine points, six rebounds and two assists as the Magic edged the Heat by one. Orlando has won seven of its last 10 contests and is now tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The teams meet again Tuesday in the NBA In-Season Tournament quarterfinal.
Wizards
WASHINGTON — Forward Cam Whitmore was held out of Saturday’s game for disciplinary reasons, not because of the illness listed on the team’s injury report, head coach Brian Keefe said. “We have certain standards for our team,” Keefe told reporters. “He has to live up to those.”
