NEW YORK — The New York Knicks welcomed starting forward OG Anunoby back to the court Friday night against the Utah Jazz, ending his nine-game layoff caused by a strained left hamstring.
Anunoby sustained the injury on Nov. 14 versus the Miami Heat after playing only five minutes. During the swingman’s time on the sideline, New York compiled a 6-3 record.
The 28-year-old was listed as questionable earlier Friday, completed pregame warm-ups and was ultimately cleared to start. Head coach Tom Thibodeau indicated the veteran will operate under a minutes restriction.
Before getting hurt, Anunoby was averaging 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 31 minutes per game while shooting 39 percent from three-point range.
The Knicks leaned on Josh Hart and Miles McBride during Anunoby’s absence. Hart, promoted from the bench, produced 17.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists across his last five starts.
