The body of former Los Angeles Lakers center Elden Campbell was discovered after it washed ashore inside what a 911 caller described as “a white casket,” the New York Post reported.
The outlet said an “eerie” emergency call alerted authorities to the situation, but did not publish further details about when or where the casket reached land. Information on the cause of death and the circumstances leading up to the discovery has not been released.
Campbell, 56, spent 15 seasons in the NBA, including nine with the Lakers, and was part of the franchise’s 2000 championship roster.
