Dallas — The Dallas Mavericks announced Tuesday that rookie center Dereck Lively II will be held out of at least the next three games while doctors assess swelling and pain in his surgically repaired right foot.
The 20-year-old big man had foot surgery in July to remove bone spurs and previously missed more than two months last season because of a stress fracture in the same ankle. Earlier this year, Lively sat out nine contests with a sprained right knee before returning on Nov. 14.
He was unavailable for Dallas’ last two matchups, and the club updated his injury designation from right knee management to right foot management ahead of Monday night’s road loss to the Miami Heat.
The Mavericks said they expect to issue a recovery timetable in roughly seven to 10 days.
