Veteran guard Bradley Beal said he chose the Los Angeles Clippers because he believes the franchise is in position to capture an NBA title.
“I need a ring. I want one bad,” the 32-year-old told KMOV’s Tamar Sher. “I feel like I’ve got a new life of rejuvenation, for sure, a new hunger. I’m excited about the opportunity, new city, a new environment but a hungry environment, too.”
Beal signed a two-year, $11 million contract with Los Angeles after reaching a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Suns.
New faces in Los Angeles
The Clippers bolstered their roster beyond Beal, acquiring forward John Collins in a trade with the Utah Jazz and adding former Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez.
Expected role
According to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, Beal is expected to fill the spot Norman Powell held last season—providing perimeter shooting, serving as a secondary creator alongside James Harden, and guiding the second unit.
Los Angeles finished last season with 50 wins, and the organization believes its veteran depth—now including Beal, Lopez and Collins—can lift a core led by Harden and Kawhi Leonard deeper into the postseason.
