Dodgers owner Mark Walter secured majority approval from the Buss family to purchase the Los Angeles Lakers for approximately $10 billion, but the decision was not unanimous, according to multiple reports.

League sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania that Joey Buss and Jesse Buss cast the only two votes against the transaction when the six Buss siblings met to decide whether to sell their controlling interest. A simple majority was required for the deal to move forward, and the sale ultimately passed.

The revelation comes days after the organization dismissed both Joey and Jesse from their front-office roles in the scouting department. Although they will no longer hold positions within basketball operations, the brothers retain their minority ownership stakes in the franchise. Four additional scouting personnel were also let go.

Lakers scouting has been credited with uncovering late-round and undrafted contributors such as Ivica Zubac, Larry Nance Jr., Josh Hart, Jordan Clarkson, Max Christie, Austin Reaves, and Alex Caruso.

Despite voting against the sale, Jesse Buss publicly expressed confidence in Walter’s leadership, saying the organization “needs a new vision” under its new owner and is “in great hands” moving forward.
