Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo exited Monday night’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers with what the team labeled a left groin strain.
Antetokounmpo began favoring his groin after an unsuccessful drive to the basket late in the second quarter at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. He limped to the sideline, headed directly to the locker room, and did not return after halftime.
The Bucks entered the contest with an 8–6 record, placing them seventh in the Eastern Conference, a tightly packed standings race expected to remain close through April. Any absence by their two-time MVP could have immediate and long-term implications.
Through 12 appearances this season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 32.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.
The team did not provide a timetable for his return. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
