Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George is expected to play his first game of the season on Monday night when the Sixers face the LA Clippers, according to league sources cited by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The matchup will double as a homecoming for the nine-time All-Star, who spent the previous five seasons with the Clippers and grew up in Palmdale, California. George, 35, signed a four-year contract with Philadelphia during the 2024 offseason.
George appeared in only 41 contests last season before undergoing knee surgery in July. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists prior to missing the final six weeks of the campaign.
Philadelphia enters Monday at 7-5, led by guard Tyrese Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecombe. Former MVP Joel Embiid has been limited to six games and is averaging 23.3 minutes as the team monitors his workload. Sources indicated George’s minutes will also be managed.
