NEW ORLEANS — Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green walked off the court and squared up to a courtside spectator during Sunday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, reacting to repeated chants of “Angel Reese.”

The incident occurred on Nov. 16, 2025, moments after Green was whistled for a shooting foul on Pelicans forward Herb Jones. As players lined up for free throws, Green left the key and stopped inches from the fan, later identified as Sam Green, 35, of New Orleans. Game officials quickly stepped between the two while arena ushers surrounded the fan.

Sam Green, who wore a black Pelicans polo, told reporters he taunted the Warriors veteran because Draymond Green had collected several rebounds but had not attempted a shot. The chant referenced WNBA and former LSU star Angel Reese, who owns numerous rebounding records for LSU and the SEC.

According to Sam Green, the four-time NBA champion responded with profanity and threatened to “punch [him] out” if the taunting continued. Ushers issued the spectator a warning but allowed him to remain in his front-row seat.

Draymond Green’s fiery on-court demeanor has led to multiple disciplinary actions in the past. In 2022, the NBA fined him $25,000 for using obscene language toward a fan. Green has since criticized what he sees as a lack of repercussions for spectators who hurl inappropriate remarks, noting that players risk fines when they respond.

The Warriors and Pelicans resumed play without further incident.
