Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has been diagnosed with a lateral collateral ligament injury in his left knee and will sit out Monday’s home game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the team said Sunday. The 29-year-old underwent an MRI after leaving Friday’s loss in Detroit and is awaiting further evaluation from specialists to determine a timetable.
Oubre, praised repeatedly this season by head coach Nick Nurse for his defense, is in the final season of his contract and is set to earn $8.4 million in 2025/26.
Additional injury news
Second-year center Adem Bona suffered a right ankle sprain against the Pistons and will miss the next three games before being re-examined on Friday. Through 12 appearances, the 21-year-old is averaging 2.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 14.8 minutes.
The club’s official injury report, scheduled for release at 4:00 p.m. CT, will provide formal updates, but both Paul George (knee surgery recovery) and Joel Embiid (right knee soreness) participated fully in Sunday’s practice. George wore a blue jersey, signifying work with the regular rotation.
McCain’s G League stint
Guard Jared McCain was recalled from the Delaware Blue Coats on Sunday after two G League outings. The 2024 first-round pick scored 10 points on 3-for-10 shooting in his debut, then posted 15 points and six assists in 20 minutes on Saturday. “I’m getting back to my normal self,” McCain said, noting he has shed the bulkier brace on his left leg. The 21-year-old has logged just three brief NBA appearances this fall after missing almost 11 months with knee and thumb injuries.
