Bulls’ White and Giddey Close to Return; League Issues Multiple Injury Updates

CHICAGO — Guards Coby White (calf) and Josh Giddey (ankle) practiced in full with contact on Friday and are expected to appear in at least one of the Chicago Bulls’ upcoming five games in seven days, beginning Sunday in Utah.

Head coach Billy Donovan said the team is still mapping out which contests the pair will play, with two back-to-back sets on the schedule. White, who has not played this season, anticipates a 24-minute restriction and joked he is lobbying the medical staff to clear him for all five games, though he is realistically aiming for three.

Donovan added that center Zach Collins, sidelined all season after left wrist surgery, had his splint removed following a positive CT scan and has started passing and shooting with the injured hand.

Additional NBA Injury Notes

Minnesota Timberwolves: Rookie guard Terrence Shannon Jr. has a left foot fifth-metatarsal bone bruise. He will be reevaluated in one week after missing the past four games.

Utah Jazz: Forward Georges Niang, yet to debut this season due to a stress reaction in the fourth metatarsal of his left foot, is increasing his on-court work and will be reevaluated in one week.

Detroit Pistons: Guard Jaden Ivey has begun on-court activity following arthroscopic knee surgery performed in mid-October. He was initially ruled out for at least four weeks.

Golden State Warriors: Forward Jonathan Kuminga was ruled out of Friday’s game against San Antonio with bilateral knee tendinitis. Tests showed no structural damage, and his absence is expected to be brief.

Los Angeles Lakers: Rookie Adou Thiero, who had knee surgery in college and experienced preseason swelling, was upgraded to probable for Friday and could make his first regular-season appearance.
