EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — LeBron James moved closer to rejoining the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday by taking part in a workout with the club’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
According to head coach JJ Redick, the 40-year-old forward joined South Bay’s session in El Segundo for his first full practice action since being sidelined by right-side sciatica. James had not appeared in a game during the 2025-26 season.
“He was able to participate in the practice,” Redick told reporters before the Lakers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. “He got up and down a little bit in warm-up transition drills, then progressed to 5-on-5 half-court play for about 12 to 15 live possessions.”
James, entering his 23rd NBA campaign and already the league’s all-time scoring leader, has watched the Lakers open the year 8-3 without him.
No timetable for his return to game action has been announced.
