The Brooklyn Nets plan to give rookie Egor Demin an extended look in the rotation with guard Cam Thomas out of action, framing the next stretch of games as a development window for the 20-year-old.
Team officials said Demin’s additional minutes will come with a heavy dose of instruction, labeling the opportunity a series of “teaching moments” designed to accelerate the newcomer’s adjustment to the NBA game.
Thomas’s absence opens a spot in the backcourt, and the coaching staff intends to use that vacancy to evaluate how quickly Demin can translate practice work into live competition. The club did not announce a timetable for Thomas’s return.
Demin, selected in the first round of the 2025 draft, has appeared sparingly so far. The Nets believe consistent floor time—paired with targeted coaching—will help the 6-foot-9 prospect refine his decision-making and defensive positioning.
The shift in roles takes effect immediately, starting with Brooklyn’s upcoming game, and will continue “for as long as it takes,” according to team personnel.
